Hydromat Inc., headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is the industry leader in rotary transfer technology. Hydromat machines feature a modular system consisting of up to 16 horizontal and 8 vertical toolspindle units, rigidly mounted around a precision cast iron ring. This arrangement provides tremendous versatility and flexibility in a turnkey machining system. The precision ground Hirth ring assures table accuracy and reliability from station-to-station to within .0002”. Non-rotating bar stock ensures quiet, vibration free cutting. The stationary workpiece undergoes many types of machining operations (drilling, cross drilling, boring, turning, milling, external/internal recessing, threading, tapping, broaching, etc.).
Fast changeovers for short runs
The EPIC R/T EMC Technology is featured on the latest machines. The EPIC R/T possesses the general characteristics of the more conventional Hydromats, maintaining the integrity, reliability and flexibility of its predecessors.
What sets this product line apart is the new Embedded Motion Control. EMC technology features special plug & play control architecture embedded into each toolspindle unit for fully independent and programmable functionality for each axis motion. EPIC R/T machines offer full CNC programmability, competitive manufacturing of small, medium and large production quantities and quick and easy changeovers – typically 1-3 hours.
For 2007, Hydromat released a limited number of the new Legacy HW25-12 machines. The Legacy is patterned after the workhorse machine that has become legendary in the precision metal-cutting industry.
In 2006 Hydromat announced a new strategic alliance with Tornos S.A. of Switzerland. Hydromat now represents the Tornos line of multispindle lathes in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Hydromat’s commitment to the Tornos multispindle operation includes sales, engineering, set-up, service, and parts stocked at the St. Louis campus. The Hydromat organization, a staff of more than 150, will bring their dedication to total customer satisfaction and a commitment to excellence to the future success of these products, to be known as TORNOS Multispindle by Hydromat. In 2006 Hydromat Inc. announced the formation of a new service-oriented business division, the Hydromat Advanced Product Group. This is a team of dedicated individuals whose backgrounds run deep in the tradition of high-precision metalworking. This expertise is available to manufacturers who require solutions in the areas of design, engineering and the build process for turn-key automation systems.
