The Rex-Cut MX Plus Kit from Rex-Cut Products Inc., Fall River, Mass. (www.rexcut.com) is designed to provide seven cotton-fiber-mounted points for second-step finishing on stainless steel, aluminum and exotic metals. The mounted points are packaged in a re-closable plastic clamshell, and can be used to blend and finish the coarse scratches left by carbide burrs and other aggressive products. The company says the kit is suitable for prepping parts for final finishing, grain-in and painting. The mounted points reach into corners, finish edges and deburr holes. The company says they leave a smoother finish, are nonloading and last longer than cartridge rolls and spiral bands.
With a heavy grain content of aluminum oxide abrasives and a choice of coarse, medium and fine grits in a latex bond, the cotton-fiber-mounted points in the kit come in 1-A3, 1-A5, 1-A12, 1-A25, 1-B52, 1-W177 and 1-W220 shapes and are on 0.250-in. spindles.
