Big Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. (www.bigkaiser.com) offers Quadro 15 Plus carbide drills for drilling long-chipping materials, such as steel and cast iron, and nonferrous materials. The Quadro 15 Plus drills are based on the company's Quadro Plus Sphinx drill geometry and have 15-degree helix angles. The company says the rigidity of the drills allows them to cut with less cutting force at high feeds and speeds, while achieving a hole quality rated at H7 or better and producing a surface finish of Ra 0.8 µ (32 rms). The drills have a Balzer Futura Nano Top TiAlN coating that the company says enhances chip evacuation and wear resistance. The drills are available in diameters from 0.157 in. (4 mm) to 0.787 in. (20 mm) with standard lengths of six times diameter with coolant through.
