The powRgrip PG 32 system from Rego Fix (www.rego-fix.com) uses a toolholder and collet to generate clamping forces that are higher than shrink-fit holders. The system clamps tool shanks to 25 mm (0.0984 in.), is designed for high speed machining applications and offers an extensive taper selection, including CAT, 8T, HSK and TC versions.
The powRgrip system, available in metric (2 mm to 25 mm) and inch (0.125 in. to 1.00 in.) sizes, includes a holder, collet and lightweight mini-press that generates nine tons of force from the interference between the holder and collet. Runout is less than 0.0001 in. Rego Fix says it takes less than 10 seconds to press in a tool or remove it from the holder. Because heat is not used in changeout, the company says tools can be used immediately after a tool change.
