The UE 100 series — UE 440/470 — configurable mid-range safety controllers from Sick Inc., Minneapolis, are for implementation of multiple safety devices such as light curtains, safety scanners, sensors, reset devices, emergency-stop devices and machinecycle contacts. The UE 470 is for presence-sensing device initiation (PSDI) safety requirements of press-brake applications.
With a graphical configuration tool and two safety circuits for a range of applications, UE 440/470 units have 15-channel inputs, of which up to seven can be configured as two-channel inputs. Two safe connections (Cat. 4, Sil 3) for electro-sensitive protective equipment support configuration and diagnostics. Eight outputs, of which two are safe output pairs, allow individual control of downstream plant components. www.sickusa.com
