Siemens Speed Connect insures operations against vibration shakeout

Speed Connect mechanisms for Motion-Connect cables are standard on all Siemens motion control systems.

A new Siemens Industry Inc. quick-release mechanism for power and signal cables protects against vibration shakeout. The Motion-Connect® line of power and signal cables feature the Speed Connect mechanisms as standard for all Siemens motion control systems.

The Siemens Drive Technologies (DT) division supplies electrical and mechanical products, applications, and solutions for the entire drive train, including energy-efficient motors and drives, as well as products and services for production machinery and machine tools. Technologies include standard products, industry-specific control and drive solutions, and mechatronics support and online services for web-based fault management and preventive maintenance.

The Speed Connect release makes installation and changeover fast and easy, even in very restricted spaces. No tools are required; just a one-quarter turn locks or unlocks the bayonet-style connectors.

All Motion-Connect cables are system-tested to guarantee optimal performance in any motion control system, such as a Sinumerik® CNC machine tool or Simotion® general motion control application. These cables also are compatible with Sinamics® drive systems and all families of Siemens induction, direct drive, and servomotors. Motion-Connect cables are fully shielded to prevent EMC noise emissions and protect the motion control system from ambient environmental noise. Motion-Connect cables are certified to CE, VDE, UL and UL/CSA standards.

A range of cabling is available with the new Speed Connect quick release mechanism, too.
