Lockheed Martin has two new U.S. Dept. of Defense awards relating to work on future deliveries of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter, totaling nearly $364 million.
The first assignment is a $175.9-million modification to an earlier contract – adding more details to the scope Lockheed’s procurement of initial spare parts for Lots 15-17 of the fighter aircraft. That covers a total of 398 new F-35s to be delivered later this decade to the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, plus defense forces in more than a dozen allied nations. The new disbursement covers work to be completed by December 2023.
The second new contract for Lockheed is another modification, worth $188-million, increases the ceiling for production of the F-35 Logistics Information Systems. With this update, the order now includes the cost of an Autonomic Logistics Information System and Operational Data Integrated Network (ODIN), and Mission Planning Environment (MPE) hardware.
It also covers the cost of associated contract management, planning and readiness reviews, and the non-recurring cost for service activities necessary to field the F-35 ODIN, MPE, and any future retrofits to those systems.
This project is due to be complete in December 2026.
