With BlankWorks 3.0 software, SolidWorks users determine accurate 2D-blank shapes for complex 3D sheetmetal stampings.
BlankWorks 3.0 software gives SolidWorks users an embedded application for determining accurate 2D-blank shapes for complex 3D sheetmetal stampings. Shops gain a competitive advantage during die-tryout stages of tooling development by generating blank shapes for stampings in less than two minutes, as opposed to trial-and-error methods taking up to two weeks, says the software's manufacturer.
The software's blank-edgesmoothing feature produces tangent continuous arcs and line geometries which enhance translations to manufacturing processes. A new skinning function simplifies handling solid models by automatically extracting inner faces for analysis. With these faces, users generate a mesh that is automatically offset to half of the material thickness for positioning it at the neutral fiber of the component.
Automatic tipping identifies optimum press orientation for parts, and a contour plot indicates thickening and thinning from the forming process. It takes into account material stretch and deformation as well as bending and flattens any SolidWorks geometry.
