Acquisition means “an expanded portfolio of chassis products for a more comprehensive range of vehicles” No price revealed Five new plants Moog automotive suspension parts Raybestos automotive brakes

Aftermarket auto parts producer Affinia Group Inc. has been acquired by Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation for an unreported price, a purchase announced earlier this year. The auto parts manufacturing organization stated that adding the Affinia operations enhances its after-market product portfolio, in particular its line of chassis parts, and complements its Moog line of automotive suspension parts.

The Affinia Global Chassis organization manufactures a series of products sold under the Raybestos brand, including chassis ball joints, tie rods, idler arms, sway bar links, and control arm assemblies.

The purchase also brings new manufacturing plants to the Federal-Mogul holdings, including operations in Oklahoma City, Fort Wayne, Ind., McHenry, Ill., Ramsey, N.J., and Mississauga, Ont.

"The integrated Federal-Mogul and Affinia chassis business will enable Federal-Mogul to offer an expanded portfolio of chassis products for a more comprehensive range of vehicles to better meet the needs of our customers globally," stated Daniel Ninivaggi, Federal-Mogul Co-CEO and CEO, Vehicle Components.

Federal-Mogul’s chassis products include wheel-end and steering products, including tie rods, ball joints, suspension and steering linkages, and alignment products.  Its chassis product offerings and electronic catalogue services provide industry-leading coverage, with global applications for the light vehicle, commercial vehicle and heavy-duty markets.

Ninivaggie continued: "The combination of these two businesses will reinforce Federal-Mogul brands as the preferred choice of automotive service providers in every product category and every segment we serve."

Over the past year Federal-Mogul has engineered a series of acquisitions, including Honeywell’s Friction Material business, adding to its brake products line; and DZV Bearings Co., a Russian producer of bearings, bushings, and thrust washers.
