Hard Turning with CBN and PCD

LACH DIAMOND will be celebrating its 50-year anniversary with a presentation of numerous cutting-tool products at IMTS 2024, at booth 432135. A highlight will be the Lach CBN turning tools that are able to reduce hours of grinding time to minutes of turning time during machining of hardened high-alloy steels, starting at 58 to 62 HRC.

Lach Diamond offers a two-tipped insert, dreborid®-B-DUO-power, for machinists who are seeking to double the efficiency and performance for hard turning processes.

Also on exhibit at IMTS 2024 will be Lach Diamond polycrystalline diamond tools for precision turning. Diamonds are important for machining nonferrous metals, but also for wear protection of different components in machine tools and for centerless cylindrical grinding machines.

There are applications for PCD tools in producing prisms, bearing shells, center points, steady-rest blocks, sliding blocks, work rest blades, and punching knives, among many more.

Another PCD application on display will be the IC-plus chip-breaker with the PCD cutting edge. The IC-plus is effective for turning low-level siliceous aluminum alloys, lead-free copper, or brass in a process-reliable manner, without any concern for machine breakdowns caused by long, excessive chips in the chip chamber. According to the developers, the IC-plus is “a must-have for turning aluminum in mass production, available as an ISO-conforming cutting insert,” and mostly from stock.
