The Zoller vision system coordinates tool optimization efforts between the presetting machinery and the Vericut CNC software. Users can scan accurate 3D models of tool assemblies that are then transferable to the tool library in various CAD formats.
NC/CNC software developer CGTech and tooling specialist Zoller are forming a partnership that will aim to help their mutual customers expedite the process of creating and maintaining tool libraries.
CGTech Vericut CNC software is a family of programs for in simulation, verification, optimization and analysis, especially for error-detection, tool-collision avoidance, and efficiency optimization. Zoller specializes at designing machines for tool presetting, measuring, inspection and management.“The Zoller vision system provides a direct link between the presetter and Vericut,” explained CGTech president Jon Prun. “Our mutual customers benefit from this partnership by having the ability to scan accurate 3D models of tool assemblies which can be easily transferred to Vericut in a variety of CAD formats.”
Vericut simulates CNC machining to identify errors in the NC programs (collisions, over-travel, gouges, etc.). Using Vericut, manufacturers can verify the accuracy of the program before it is loaded on the machine, reducing or eliminating the need for the time-consuming manual prove-out process and minimizing material costs. Vericut also improves machining efficiency by optimizing cutting speeds.
Zoller’s TMS Tool Management Solutions software offers potential savings by organizing the management of the manufacturing process on the basis of a central database, to be used by all production units. It’s a modular program that users can apply as required to improve the production processes, step-by-step.
“Zoller software is fully automatic and precise to the micron,” stated Zoller Inc. president Alexander Zoller. “With a push of a button, the presetter will scan the tool as built on the shop floor, eliminating inaccuracy and the need to manually model tools. Creating a Vericut tool library has never been easier.”
