Schunk Inc. said that a complete jaw set can be changed in less than 60 seconds, with a repeatability of less than 0.0005 in., with its new Rota THWplus quick-jaw change chuck. This eliminates the need to re-bore jaws in many cases. A wedge-bar actuation system allows the chuck to offer large through holes with fast spindle speeds and, coupled with the Quick-Jaw-Change-System, the THWplus chuck reduces downtimes and thus helps to maximize throughput and return-on-investment of any turning center.
Many combinations of top and base jaws can be used to meet almost any need. Optional modular center sleeves allow for through-spindle coolant, part ejection, closed-center sealing, or as an adjustable part stop. The chuck is available in the sizes 165 mm, 185 mm, 215 mm, 260 mm and 315 mm.
To avoid damage to the machine and danger to the operator, the actuation wrench can be removed only when a jaw is properly engaged.
