The new Hydramax Workholding System from Kurt Manufacturing Co. (www.kurtworkholding.com) for Kurt 8-in. vises is capable of holding five or eight parts in a single clamping. This system enhances the capabilities of 4-, 6- and 8- in. Kurt vises.
The system replaces standard jaw plates with a jaw set up in models with 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 pistons. Independent pistons provide consistent clamping for holding multiple parts, irregularly shaped parts, castings and various size parts in one clamping. Aluminum jaws allow quick pocket machining.
The system has a common channel that equalizes pressure against all of the individual pistons so equal pressure is applied to all parts. An operator simply loads parts and a single stroke of the vise handle provides independent clamping of each piston. The system utilizes hydraulic pressure for clamping although there are no hydraulic connections to make.
Changeover from standard jaws to Hydramax jaws takes only a few minutes. Once Hydramax systems are installed changeover to new setups takes less than a minute.
