A new release for Hexagon Metrology’s DataPage product line — DataPage+ — integrates product inspection data obtained by shop-floor metrology equipment with PC-DMIS, its companion measuring software. Both DataPage+ and PC-DMIS are developments of Wilcox Associates Inc.
The new version of DataPage advances the CAD-integrated reporting concept and allows users to rotate and zoom a solid representation of the CAD model live within the report.
DataPage+ provides timely and actionable feedback to operators so they’re able to take actions that reduce waste and eliminate machine bottlenecks. A further effect will be savings in time and resources, according to the developer.
Hexagon says that DataPage+ has been entirely rewritten in the SQL Express database, for seamless integration with PC-DMIS. It continues to offer the full complement of run charts, histograms, and an optional feature for integrating the CAD data into customizable, interactive reports.
“The CAD integration in DataPage+ is its most unique feature,” explained Ping Fang, product manager for DataPage+. “It’s natural that PC-DMIS … would spawn a CAD-based SPC reporting package. This is similar to the Dataview feature from the prior version of DataPage, which showed a static wireframe CAD view with corresponding flags to the measured features.”
However, Fang said the new release advances the CAD-integrated reporting concept and allows users to rotate and zoom a solid representation of the CAD model live within the report. They can reorganize the data flags and select the type of data they wish display. “It’s taking what was once a static presentation of data and making it dynamic and interactive,” he said.
“This first release of DataPage+ concentrates primarily on the small to medium business customer that needs a robust SPC package with market-leading features to attach to their measuring device, such as CMM, laser tracker or portable arm,” said Ken Woodbine, president of Wilcox Associates Inc.
Woodbine said a complimentary version of DataPage+ will be released later this year for enterprise and supply-chain level workflows. And, while the first release is available in English and Chinese, more languages will be released in 2010.
