CAD/CAM developer Schott Systeme launched an intermediate update for its design and manufacturing software. The new version of Pictures by PC 3.4 is called a “hybrid” suite with enhanced functions for modeling, machining, and technical documentation — specifically for part construction.
Pictures by PC 3.4 has extended hybrid solid, surface and mesh modeling functions.
A video overview of the software solution is available online.
Schott Systeme says it extended the program’s existing hybrid solid, surface and mesh modeling functions, so it’s easier for part designers to construct and edit complex freeform features. Also, the hybrid suite introduces “mesh healing” to help identify and repair problems in imported stereo-lithography (STL) models.
Building on the software’s features that allow users to set up and save preferred methods of machining, Pictures by PC now incorporates a catalogue of “ready made’ CAM operations. Schott says these can be applied to a job instantly. Other machining enhancements include a “cutting data” calculator that automatically determines the actual tool feed for the feed per tooth.
As for technical documentation, Pictures by PC has been integrated with 3D PDF functionality: all project documentation can be organized graphically and automatically converted into a single PDF, embedded with project links so users and their colleagues can navigate easily to the source documents.
