Chrysler LLC announced that it will invest more than $27 million in its Toledo Machining Plant to produce a redesigned torque converter for the company’s automatic transmissions and for the production of a new steering column. Tom LaSorda, vice chairman and president of Chrysler said the investment is expected to retain about 200 jobs at the plant. About 1,500 people work there. LaSorda said Chrysler has invested $3.9 billion in its Toledo manufacturing operations in the past seven years.
