Kitamura Machinery, a manufacturer of horizontal, vertical and 5-axis machining centers, is expanding its manufacturing facility in Takaoka City, Japan, to 208,000 square feet from 171,300 square feet to support the production of larger size, high performance horizontal machining centers. Ground was broken May 14 for the expanded facility and completion is planned for October, in time for Kitamura Machinery’s 75th anniversary in November. The company’s decision to expand is the result of increased customer demand for larger size machining centers required globally by industries including aerospace, automotive and medical industries, along with growing sales opportunities in the heavy construction equipment and oil and gas industries.
