The demand for machine tools rose sharply in September from a year earlier and increased from August, according to the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association (AMTDA) and the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT).
In a report released Sunday, the two trade groups said total U.S. September machine tool demand was $407.21 million in September, an increase of 43.1 percent from $284.47 million in September 2005.
