Applications for the HSM 300 high-speed machining system include tool and moldmaking; machining graphite and copper electrodes; manufacturing punch and stamping dies, and micromachining small, precise parts. The machine mills dust-producing materials as well as hard and soft ones. A heavy-duty spindle with ceramic-hybrid bearings delivers speeds up to 30,000 min -1. Standard equipment includes a dust-extraction unit for graphiteelectrode machining and minimumquantity lubrication for hard milling.
