Mazak is expanding its Nexus product line into high-torque multi-tasking featuring a large-bore spindle. The company’s Nexus QTN 450Mmachine has a maximum swing of 33.3 in. and a maximum machine diameter of 22.8 in., a 40 hp turning spindle with 1,327 ft-lbs of torque, and a 12-station turret with a 10 hp, 4,000 rpm milling spindle. A 2,000 rpm milling spindle is available as an option.. Maximum speed on the integrated spindle/motor unit is 2000 rpm and the spindle bore is 6.5 in. Feeds are 1,181 ipm in x- and z-axes.
According to Mazak, the QTN 450M machine design emphasizes solid rigidity and construction that delivers heavy-duty machining capability while handling high turning and milling forces efficiently.The NC servo-driven tailstock features single-body construction to supports shaft workpieces and provide thrust force to 2,923 lbs. The company says the machine’s carriage and bed feature a new design that emphasizes thermal stability, and the head stock features chiller cooling for improved dimensional accuracy.
