Balluff Inc. (www.balluff.com), is expanding its range of sensors in order to support a growing range of creative, sensor-based productivity and parts quality error-proofing solutions for the machine tool industry.
The new Steelface family of extended range sensors combines a single-piece stainless steel housing with two to three times the sensing range of standard inductive proximity sensors. They consist of 12 mm (0.47 in.), 18 mm (0.71 in.) and 30 mm (1.18 in.) shielded and unshielded sensors in normally open PNP and NPN configurations with a 4-pin micro connector.
Balluff's line of L-shaped BWL thru-beam sensors now offers three heavy-duty BWL model sizes d five new standard duty BWL model sizes. The heavy-duty models have corrosion resistant steel housings that can resist multiple impacts without loss of function and have a high-powered infrared light source that is supposed to cut through heavy contamination.
The standard duty BWL sensor series uses anodized aluminum housings with a selection of visible red light or Class II laser. Visible red emission models feature detection resolution down to 0.5 mm and Class II laser versions have a resolution down to 0.1 mm throughout their beam.
Balluff says their patented new Micropulse BIW transducer offers superior non-contact positioning accuracy in a form factor matching a linear pot with comparable price, and their new line of long-range 3 mm (0.12 in.), 4 mm (0.16 in.) and 5 mm (0.20 in.) unshielded sensors sets a new standard in sensing distance for their size - out to 5 mm - the equivalent of an M18 sensor three to four times larger.
Balluff's line of RFID systems has been expanded to include the BIS M system to provide fast, economical on-the-fly industrial data tracking. The system is specifically designed for continuously moving applications requiring large amounts of industrial data carriers and operates at an industry-standard 13.56 MHz frequency.
