Simplifying Sizing, Selection of Motion Control Systems
Motion systems developer Kollmorgen is introducing a software program it said simplifies the sizing and selection of linear- and rotary motor-and-drive systems. Motioneering Application Engine 6.2.0 is aimed at machine builders and uses a mechanism project concept to collect and save load information for multiple axes. It automatically calculates application results and compares them against a database to identify the optimized linear or rotary motion system quickly, to meet specific machine builder application requirements.
Kollmorgen’s Motioneering Application Engine 6.2.0 automatically calculates application results and compares them against a database, to identify the optimized linear or rotary motion system solutions according to machine builders’ application requirements.
Version 6.2.0 offers several updates to help simplify the task of specifying motors and drives. Included among these are Kollmorgen’s latest AKM servomotor, the AKM8, and the new line of VLM servomotors.
Motioneering 6.2.0 also includes a Help file that explains program functions and defines terms and algorithms used to perform application results. Units-of-measure options for mechanism and motion profile data-entry, and the ability to convert data into other available units, also simplify the user’s programming task. For rotary applications, Motoneering 6.2.0 can sum the effects of multiple axes of motion to help “right size” the power supply and shunt regeneration.
After application results are calculated and system selections are made, the Motioneering PDF generator issues a complete report of application results, system and product specifications, and system performance and user-profile curves with application placement within the plot. The results are thereby easy to review and distribute.
Motioneering 6.2.0 is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.0.
