The 4500MT features a 12-position upper drum turret equipped with turning and milling tools.
Mazak's Cybertech Turn 4500MT high-productivity, heavy-duty multitasking turning center tackles long-shaft work for the oil-field and energy industries.
Shops serving the oil-field and energy industries may want to check out Mazak's Cybertech Turn 4500MT, a heavy-duty CNC turning center with the machining capability of a midsize machining center. The multitasking system features a 12-position upper drum turret (equipped with turning and milling tools), an 8-position lower turret (with turning tools), and a slew of other productivityenhancing features.
According to Mazak, the 4500MT both machines and bores long-shaft workpieces weighing up to 1,014 lb. It boasts a 15-in. chuck, maximum swing of 33.8 in., and maximum machining diameter of 31.8 in. for the upper turret and 14.9 in. for the lower. The powerful, 50-hp spindle motor delivers 2,400 rpm, while the 15-hp upper-turret milling spindle provides 3,000 rpm.
Rapid traverse in X and Y are 944 and 1,181 ipm, respectively. Z-axis thrust in the machine's electric tailstock is 5,512 lb. Mazak's special drop worm shaft ensures 0.001°-increment positioning accuracy of the C axis. Reportedly, this is 8 more accurate than ISO requirements demand.
Optional features include an integrated threading function and programming for negative-thread profiles and metal-seal profiles. In addition, the 4500MT has the capacity for two 3.1-in. diameter, 39.4-in.-long boring bars to be sorted in the boringbar stocker above the tailstock. This lets the machine automatically perform deep boring of long workpieces.
