Motion Industries Expands Network with Two Midwest Purchases
Motion Industries Inc. has acquired to new holdings, D.P Brown of Detroit Inc., an independent distributor of conveyor and power transmission products; and Dayton Supply & Tool Co., a distributor of machine tools, abrasives, and industrial supplies.
The value of the purchases was not announced.
Birmingham-based Motion Industries is a distributor of bearings, mechanical power transmission, electrical and industrial automation, hydraulic and industrial hose, hydraulic and pneumatic components, industrial products, and material handling. It has over 500 operations in North America, including nine distribution centers. Its customers are involved in the food and beverage, pulp and paper, iron and steel, chemical, mining and aggregate, petrochemical, automotive, wood and lumber, and pharmaceutical industries. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Co.
D.P. Brown of Detroit Inc. has locations in Saginaw, Westland, and Grand Rapids, Mich., and Perrysburg, Ohio. It stocks conveyor belting, idlers, bearings, pulleys and power transmission products, and offers on-site installation and vulcanizing of conveyor belts.
“This strategic acquisition provides an expansion of products and service to our customers and we welcome D.P. Brown to our organization,” stated Motion Industries president and CEO Bill Stevens.
Dayton, Ohio-based Dayton Supply & Tool has outlets in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Mount Vernon, Ohio. It distributes machine tools, abrasives and industrial supplies to service manufacturers and contractors in Central and Southwestern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. It also consults on tooling process applications, including implementing tool crib-management systems and customizing supply chain-management programs.
