Caterpillar Announces Indefinite Layoffs For Engine Production Employees
Caterpillar Inc. has notified 814 production employees at its Mossville, Illinois engine assembly facility that the company would indefinitely lay off those employees. In recent months, production volumes at the Mossville engine facility have decreased significantly. This is primarily related to a decrease in orders for on-highway truck engines made in Mossville, lower demand for engines used in Caterpillar machines and decreased demand for commercial engine applications. Federal-Mogul Expands Existing Restructuring Plan
Federal-Mogul Corporation said it has expanded the restructuring plan it announced September 17, 2008, in response to the continued challenging conditions in the global automotive market. Federal-Mogul plans to implement several initiatives designed to further consolidate, downsize or close additional locations. These actions are expected to reduce the company's global workforce by approximately 4,600 additional positions or about 10 percent. Read More

Delphi Gets Approval To Sell Global Exhaust Business
Delphi Corp. received approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York for the sale of assets related to the company's global exhaust business to Bienes Turgon for $17 million (subject to adjustments). Read More

General Dynamics Gets $217 Million Vehicle Order From Swiss Army
MOWAG GmbH, a unit of General Dynamics European Land Systems, has been awarded an order valued at $217 million for 244 DURO and PIRANHA vehicles, to be produced in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. The vehicles will be delivered between 2010 and 2012. Read More
