Mori Seiki ( www.moriseiki.com) has announced that it is extending its Cutting Dream Competition to Europe for the first time. The competition was originally held only in Japan but last year took place in the United States for the first time. The competition is meant to celebrate passion and consummate technical ability in the manufacturing industry. Prize winning pieces for 2006 were displayed in the Mori Seiki booth at Japan’s international machine tool show, JIMTOF.
The competition features four categories: parts machining; die and mould machining/mould machining; micro machining; and academic research. There are several prizes in each category and the gold prize winners receive 200,000 Japanese Yen ($1,685.20). Judging is conducted by a panel of experts external to Mori Seiki.
