Setup puts a detent in plastic job

I developed special tooling to install threaded inserts into plastic standoffs that are part of small electronic assemblies manufactured in various configurations. Ultrasonic welders do the installations, and the special tooling nests the parts in line with the welder’s centerline.

The tooling has springloaded detents located on a base plate that is fastened to the welder’s workplate. The detents match up with countersunk holes in the bottom of an aluminum nesting plate. This setup lets me quickly line up the assembly and install the inserts.
