Studer has extended the capabilities of its S36 model grinding machine to give it the capacity for expanded, heavy-duty production applications. The new model is designated as the Studer S36 Heavy Duty (HD) grinder and uses 24-in. by 6.3-inch grinding wheels driven by 20-horsepower spindles. The machines also are equipped with heavy-duty work heads and tailstocks for grinding precision automotive and hydraulic components. The company says the machines are compact and can be automated with loaders for high-production environments. The S36 Heavy Duty grinders are equipped with Fanuc 16i digital controls and axis drives, and Studer's step-by-step programming package.www.grinding.com
