“The ML400L is a longer version of Muratec’s ML400 shaft turning machine,” Steve Landrum, North American sales manager explained. “The original ML400 is still part of Muratec’s Turning Division lineup, but the ML400L expands the automated turning of shaft parts up to 570 mm (22.4 in.) in length and up to 200 mm (7.9 in.) in diameter.”

Twin upper and lower turrets with roller support reduce cycle times Extends automated turning to 570 mm long … And up to 200 mm in diameter

Charlotte-based Murata Machinery USA Inc. is introducing a new shaft-turning machine, the ML400L, a modification of the builder’s current turning technology. The group’s Turning business unit supplies twin- and single-spindle automated turning centers under its Muratec brand, machines that combine original technology and compact designs for high productivity and intelligent gantry-loader material handling.

Muratec's automated CNC lathes are used in automotive engineering, bearing manufacturing, valves and fittings, oil-and-gas component production, and other industries that require precision, high-speed turning.

With its twin upper and lower turrets with roller support, Murata Machinery claimed the ML400L can reduce cycle times by pinch turning. It is equipped with an MT5 tailstock center and offers a “live tool” option for small secondary holes.

Also, the ML400L is available with one or two turrets, and the Muratec high-speed 3-axis CNC gantry loader.
