Okuma America Corporation reported it has added a new vertical machine to its line of multitasking machining centers, which it said provides reliable machining for a variety of production needs. The MU-6300V complements the existing line-up with its own contributions for high efficiency and high-productivity five-axis, multi-sided machining.
Okuma America is the U.S.-based affiliate of Okuma Corporation, a CNC machine tool builder headquartered in Nagoya, Japan. It calls itself “the industry’s only single-source provider, with the CNC machine, drive, motors, encoders, spindle and CNC control all manufactured by Okuma.”
The MU-6300V CNC vertical machining center has a rigid and accurate double column structure and low center of gravity in its trunnion table, both features that support heavy duty cutting activity and high speed finishing. It’s built on Okuma’s Thermo-Friendly structure — a concept that aims to minimize excess heat generated in the machining process, as well as to compensate for heat that may cause thermal deformation. The MU-6300V, according to the developer, “performs consistently from the first part to the last, regardless of warm-up time or ambient temperatures.”
The design specifications of Okuma’s new machine are:
“The MU-6300V is a true workhorse machine that is able to take on the toughest materials with its dual-driven rotary trunnion design,” stated Okuma’s five-axis product specialist, Kyle Klaver, “and would be a great fit for any industry looking to add a high efficiency, 5-axis machining center especially the aerospace, automotive, and medical industries.”
The MU-6300V was recognized by the Japanese business and technology daily Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun as one of 2012’s ten best new products. The ‘Best 10’ New Product Awards are given to selected products for their contributions to the development of manufacturing and strengthening of Japan’s international competitiveness. Winners are chosen from among all products developed and in practical use in a given year.
