Schunk Inc. (www.schunk.com) has joined with Joe Gibbs Racing, one of NASCAR’s premier Sprint Cup Racing teams, as its “official workholding solutions provider.”
Schunk will assist Joe Gibbs Racing by developing workholding products designed to enable the race team to make track-specific modifications to its racecars by getting car parts cut quickly.
Joe Gibbs Racing said it chose Schunk because of the company’s comprehensive line of workholding technology, its ability to shorten turnaround time, and its reputation for quick response.
As an example, the company said it expects Schunk’s Unilock Zero Point pallet system to shorten turnaround time to get parts into a machine while maintaining accuracy with 0.0002 in.
Jim Strasser, manufacturing engineer for Joe Gibbs Racing, said he has seen benefits from the new Schunk equipment.
