BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. (www.bigkaiser.com) has introduced two new angle heads — the ONBS and the Compact Angle Head. Angle heads combine vertical, horizontal and angular operations on one machine, delivering accuracy and eliminating multiple setups. The ONBS Angle Head offers a coolant-throughthe- tool design, and is available as standard in BIG-Plus CAT40 and CAT50 tapers.

The Compact Angle Head is smaller, designed for lighter duty work and is lower priced than original angle heads. The Compact Angle Head has a maximum 0.5-in. capacity and is available in BIG-Plus CAT40 tapers.

BIG Kaiser also has introduced its Mega ER Collet Chucks, the first collet chuck to work with the BIG-Plus tooling system. The Mega ER16 and ER32 Collet Chucks are only available in CAT tapers.

An expanded line of BIG Kaiser’s Sphinx Micro Drills is made of fine-grained solid carbide.

The new line includes:

  • Micro drills available in diameters from 0.30 mm to 1.50 mm, in increments of 0.01 mm, with a 3-mm reinforced shank. The drill is available in standard lengths of 6-times diameter, and can be run with or without coolant. It is recommended for materials such as steel, titanium and nickel alloys, aluminum and copper. Its two-flute geometry has a point angle of 130 degrees and a helix angle of 35 degrees for precision and close tolerance.
  • A Micro drill, available in diameters 0.50 mm to 1.60 mm in steps of 0.01 mm. Its two-flute geometry has a point angle of 118 degrees and a helix angle of 30 degrees and is available in lengths of 6-times diameter, in steps of 0.05 mm available in standard lengths at 10-times to15-times diameter. It is recommended for materials such as steel, titanium and nickel alloys, aluminum and copper. Its two-flute geometry has a point angle if 118 degrees and a helix angle of 25 degrees.
  • A Micro drill available in diameters from 0.20 mm to 1.50 mm offers a positive tolerance.

BIG Kaiser also expanded its Phoenix Drill line to include 3-times and 12-times diameter from the line’s original 6-times diameter. The drills are available in diameters from 1 mm to 12.7 mm in 0.1-mm increments, with coolant through from a diameter of 2.5 mm and with a Helica coating. This line of high-performance drills are made from solid carbide and are designed for cutting extra-hard materials.
