The TDM Data and Graphic Generator from TDM Systems GmbH, Chula Vista, Calif., creates master data and 2D/3D images of turning tools with ISO and CAPTO specifications. The system incorporates a database of tool graphics with detailed drilling and milling information from Walter and Sandvik-Coromant.

The generator reportedly eliminates up to 90% of manual effort required to create a 3D model of a complex milling tool. It integrates into other platforms, such as TDM, AutoCAD, and NX Unigraphics and exports data in neutral formats, such as STEP, SAT, and STL. In three to five minutes, a graphic tool image and its master data are stored simultaneously in the TDM database. Operators can change individual data-record parameters to create variants.
