Tendo Hydraulic Toolholders from Schunk Inc., Morrisville, N. C., have internal pistons that force hydraulic fluid into a cavity surrounding a steel sleeve. The pressure uniformly forces the sleeve around any cutting tool shank. Different shank diameters are handled with the same toolholder by slotted, coolant-proof intermediate sleeves. The toolholders reportedly provide high concentricity, high torque transmission, high accuracy and repeatability less than 3 µ (0.00012 in.). The hydraulic system absorbs vibrations inherent in cutting and grinding operations. Tendo toolholders work in high-speed and fine milling, heavy-duty milling, high-speed machining, internal grinding, boring, chamfering, reaming and tool grinding. schunk-usa.com
