Tree CNC (www.beavercnc.com) has resumed production of the J-425 CNC knee-type milling machine, a machine that Tree CNC says was one of the most popular machines produced by the former Tree Machine Tool Co. Inc.

Tree CNC is a new company based in Brighton, Mich., that has acquired an exclusive license to produce the CNC machines. Tree CNC also said it is the only authorized and licensed company in the United States for original Tree replacement parts and service for all machines formerly built by or for Tree Machine Tool Co., Inc. Tree CNC said the original Tree Machine Tool Co. was sold to Excel Machine Tool Ltd. of Singapore in 1999 and that the parent company of Tree encountered financial difficulties in 2005, forcing its Singapore plant and its U.S. office in Buffalo Grove, Ill., to close.

"The investment firm that acquired Excel Machine Tool Ltd. and Tree Machine Tool Co.'s assets believed that the Tree brand name, and certain models of machines, particularly the J-425 CNC milling machine, were still very much a viable product," the company said in a prepared statement.

Tree CNC said it expects to ship its first knee-type milling machines in December, and is developing and later expects to produce of a series of vertical machining centers and turning centers built to original Tree specifications.

Tree Machine Tool Co. Inc. was founded in 1926 as Tree Tool and Die Works by Charles Tree in Racine, Wis., and built its first milling machine in 1950.

Tree CNC said the J-425 CNC knee-type milling machine is rigid and durable and designed to cut steel and aluminum in toolroom or production applications.
