Oshkosh Defense has been assigned a U.S. Army contract worth almost $102 million to deliver 2,000 MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) under-body improvement kits. The order will be completed by September and follows orders for almost 8,400 of the vehicles, which Oshkosh Defense produces the M-ATV in several variants with a factory-installed armor package.
Oshkosh Defense is an operating division of Oshkosh Corp. that designs and manufactures tactical military trucks and armored vehicles. The kits to be supplied improve the armored protection for the M-ATV, which can accept bolt-on armor in the field. The vehicle can incorporate protection kits while maintaining its full payload capacity of 4,000 pounds and a 70 percent off-road profile capability, thanks to the use of the Oshkosh TAK-4® independent suspension system.
The kits will be supplied to the Army’s TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC), the Michigan-based command center that oversees material readiness for the U.S. armed forces.
